Craig Berube Named Head Coach of Toronto Maple Leafs

Maple Leafs Hire Former Blues Bench Boss

Toronto, Ontario, Canada - May 21, 2024

The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced the hiring of Craig Berube as the team's new head coach. Berube replaces Sheldon Keefe, who was fired earlier this month after five seasons with the team.

Berube, a veteran of over 1000 NHL games as a player, becomes the first Maple Leafs player to both play and coach for the franchise. He joins the Leafs after spending the past five seasons as the head coach of the St. Louis Blues, where he led the team to a Stanley Cup victory in 2019.

In his time with the Blues, Berube compiled a record of 206-132-44. He is known for his defensive-minded approach and ability to get the most out of his players.

The Maple Leafs are hoping that Berube can bring the same success to Toronto that he had in St. Louis. The team has not won a Stanley Cup since 1967 and is looking to end their long championship drought.

Berube is excited about the opportunity to coach the Maple Leafs and is confident that he can help the team reach its goals.

"I'm honored to be the head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs," Berube said. "This is a great organization with a rich history and a passionate fan base. I'm looking forward to working with our players and staff to bring a Stanley Cup to Toronto."
